West Dummerston --- William Henry Butterfield, 87, died yesterday afternoon in his home after a lingering illness. He has been incapacitated for work several years.

Mr. Butterfield was born, 1828, a son of Elijah and Hannah (Pierce) Butterfield. He lived in West Dummerston practically all his life. He leaves one son, Horace, who lived with his father, and two daughters, Mrs. June Taft of West Dummerston, and Mrs. Annie Snow of Marlboro.

The funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon at the house, Rev. Delmar F. Trout of the Universalist Church of Brattleboro officiating.
