Obituary

Deerfield Valley Times (Wilmington), 27 June 1889

Died, in Wilmington, June 20, Allen S. Canedy, age 43. The funeral was held from the house Saturday morning, Rev. L. P. Tucker officiating. The remains were taken to Bennington for interment. Mr. and Mrs. Canedy moved here from Bennington in March 1886 and bought the farm they lived on of J.H. Kidder and H. A. Wellman. He has always been a hard working and industrious farmer and had nearly paid for the farm. He was an old soldier and belonged to the local post. He had been gradually failing for about a year consumption finally doing its work.
