Native of Ripton Died at Soldiers'
Home Today

Josiah S. Chandler died at the Soldiers' home. Wednesday morning at the age of 82, having been born in Ripton, May 24,1838, and is survived by one daughter. Burial will be in Ripton.

He enlisted from Ripton in Co. B, 5th Vt., Sept. 7,1861; re-enlisted Dec.15,1863; was wounded, May 5, 1864; and was mustered out June 29, 1865. He had held the more important offices in his town, and was a pension attorney many years, until he came to the home Oct. 23, 1919. His death is the thirteenth at the home since Jan. 1, last.
