Cyrus J. Ellsworth
Cyrus J. Ellsworth died Thursday of last week from the effect of a paralytic shock sustained the day previous. For some time "Cy" had driven stages and carried mail between Morrisville and Garfield, and had moved from the farm down to Garfield. Last week he went over to the farm to help his son with the haying. In the afternoon, as he was mowing and perspiring freely, he began to feel "queer", and taking his scythe he started for the house, but fell before he got quite there. He lived until the next morning and was conscious part of the time. Funeral services were conducted from the farm residence Saturday afternoon. He leaves, besides his wife, one son, George. Mr. Ellsworth was born in Cambridge 54 years ago, and at the age of 21 enlisted, serving in Company A, 2nd Vt. Regt from March until July of '65. Since the war he has reside in this town, where he was well known, and where he attained condsiderable influence in his section. He was a man of many good qualities.
