November 1, 1862

Newton Johnson, of Shrewsbury, brother of Mrs. Joseph Pratt of Ludlow, died in the hospital at Philadelphia on the 17th inst., of typhoid fever. He belonged to Company C, 4th regiment. His sister Lorette Johnson, who has many friends in this place, was with him for about ten weeks previous to his death.
