Alfred Mayhew died Thursday afternoon at his home on Branch Street Extension of heart trouble. Following a short illness. He was born in Canada June 17, 1845, and had been a resident of Bennington for several years. He was a member of Company K, 1st Vermont Cavalry, and had been an inmate at the Soldiers Home here. The funeral will be held from St. Francis de Sales church Monday morning, and the body will be taken to Middlebury for burial. He leaves his widow, and two sons.
