Rutland Daily Herald, April 18, 1900:

Joseph P. Mailhiot died of pneumonia at his home, No. 47 East Washington street, yesterday afternoon after a six days illness. He was 77 years of age. Mr. Mailhiot was one of the oldest French residents in Rutland and he had lived here 45 years. He was a member of Roberts post, No. 14, G.A.R. One son, Charles E. Mailhiot of this city, survives him.
