Sep. 7, 1916
Barney B. Mattimore, who died at his home in Essex Junction Friday, after an illness of several years, was born at Grand Isle August 6, 1845, and was, therefore, in his eighty-second year. When a small boy he moved to Essex Center, and was living there when the call to arms came in 1861. He enlisted in Company I, 6th Vt. Regt., and served throughout the war, being honorably discharged as first sergeant in 1865. He is survived by his wife, three daughters and one son.Contributed by Tom Boudreau.
