John Monteith of this town died last Monday after an illness extending over two years. He was born in Sutton, P. Q., in 1845 being thus 76 years of age. In1873, he married Miss Harriet Wing, who died in 1907, there being three children surviving from this marriage. In 1900 he married Mrs. Mary Bashaw, who died last year. The funeral of the late Mr. Monteith was held Wednesday, burial being in the village graveyard and was conducted by the Rev. W. G. Mansfield. All the children were present except one living in Connecticut. Mr. Monteith together with his two brothers, who are still living, were veterans of the Civil War.
