Death of Joseph E. Nash

Joseph E. Nash died at his home on Water street at 4 o'clock Wednesday afternoon of a complication of diseases. He was 69 years old and is survived by a wife, Mrs. Carrie M. Nash, a son, Fred Nash, a daughter, Mrs. Cora B. Hayden, both of this town, two brothers, John M. Nash of East Middlebury and Charles J. Nash of Plainfield, N. J., a sister, Miss Mary Nash of East Lynn, Conn., and four grandchildren. Mr. Nash was born in Middlebury, October 15, 1848, a son of Ashel and Jane England Nash. He has lived in Middlebury all his life and for the last 10 years had been transfer mail carrier between the post office and the depot, resigning last fall. He was a Civil war veteran, having enlisted in company H, 17th Vt. Vol.

The funeral will be held at his late home on Water street Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. H. C. Newell will officiate. Burial will be in the Foote street cemetery.
