MIDDLEBURY -- Joseph Roberts, a long time resident of East Middlebury, died at his home Sunday morning after a long illness. aged 75 years. He was a Veteran of the Civil War. He enlisted first in Company C. 7th Vermont, and when his term was up he re-enlisted in Hancock's 1st. Corps, in Company C., 4th Vermont.

He leaves a wife, two sons, Frank Roberts of Pittsburg, Mass., and Joseph of Waterbury, Conn, a daughter, Mrs. B. G. Peck of East Middlebury, and a sister, Mrs. C. J. Fortin of Fitchburg, Mass. and a brother, Delph, of Springfield, Mass. The funeral was held Wednesday at 2 o'clock.
