A middle-aged man named Shumway, of Readsboro, after a Sunday dispute with his wife, deliberately, in the presence of his family, took a fatal dose of Paris green and died in a few hours. His wife entreated him not to do it, and he repented of his rash act shortly afterwards when it was too late.
