Irasburg --- Erastus Slack died at the home of his son, S. F. Slack, yesterday morning, Aug. 17, aged 83 years. He was an old Soldier, and had been very feeble, and entirely disabled for many years.


Orleans County Monitor, Aug. 18, 1902

The funeral of Erastus Slack was held at the house last Tuesday, Rev. E. B. Treat officiating. The singing was by the Cong'l choir. Mr. Slack was a soldier in the Civil War, and served in Company I., 15th Regiment, Vt. Volunteers. He had suffered greatly from rheumatism, and the past fifteen years has been entirely disabled. The past eleven years he had made his home with his son, S. F. Slack, where he was kindly cared for. He leaves two sons, Francis and Simeon F., and one daughter, Mrs. Fletcher Kidder.
