HERCHEL F. SMITH enlisted from Waterbury. He was a small, spare man, very quiet in his habits, but attended strictly to his duties, doing his whole duty at all times. He served faithfully during his term of enlistment and returned to Waterbury where he has followed the vocation of farmer and is a respected citizen.
