The Vermont Journal, September 12, 1863

In North Springfield, May 22d, of chronic diarrhea, contracted in the U. S. Army, George M. Stanley, youngest son of Hiram and Lorinda Stanley, and a member of Co. A, 3d Vt, aged 17 yeas and 6 months. In the death of this young man, parents, brothers and sisters have been called to mourn the loss of an affectionate son and brother, and his country the loss of a young but faithful soldier.
