Frederick Bigelow Staples, a veteran of the civil war, died at his home in this village about 4:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon. He had been a great sufferer from rheumatism for many years, and was also a cripple from the effects of his service during the war. He was one of the best mechanics in town. He enlisted at Williamstown in Co. D, 15th Vt. Vols. on Sept. 15, 1862 and was mustered out at the expiration of his term, August 5, 1863. His funeral will be held at his late home Saturday morning at 10 o'clock, Rev. Mr. Welch officiating.
