H. C. Stratton Dead

Former Resident and Veteran Dies in Hayes Center, Nebraska

Died: February 10th, 1904 at noon of disease of the kidneys, Henry Clay Stratton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Newman Stratton.

Deceased was born in Bennington, Vermont, April 26th, 1844.

At the age of 18 years he enlisted in Company A, 14th Vt. Infantry where he served for nine months, after this service to his country, he again enlisted in 2nd, Vt. Battery where he served during the remainder of the war, being mustered out of service in August 1865. He came to Nebraska in 1880, moving to Hayes Center in 1887, where he engaged in the hardware business, being the founder of the business house now run by J. W. Gull. Since 1890 he has devoted his time to stock raising.
