Charles R. Myers, age 67 years, a Civil war veteran, died late Thursday afternoon at his home in Rutland as the result of a paralytic stroke which he suffered Wednesday morning. Mr. Myers had been a resident of Rutland about 30 years, moving there from Brandon. He was employed by the Howe Scale company in Brandon and ciontinued in their service after they opened the plant in Rutland. At the time of his death he was employed in the carpenter shop of the Rutland Railroad company. Mr. Myers enlisted May 9, 1863, from Bristol, in the first Vermont regiment for three months. He re-enlisted June 6, 1862, as a corporal in company E, of the ninth Vermont regiment and was mustered out June 15, 1865. He was a member of Roberts post, G.A.R., of Rutland. Besides his wife, Mr. Myers is survived by two sons, H.D. and C.D. Myers, of Jersey City, N.J., and one daughter, Mrs. C.A. Barton of Rutland.
