Hiram Parker, a veteran of the civil war who has resided at the Whitney boarding house on Main street during the past five years, was taken to the Vermont soldiers' home hospital last night and died early this morning. He had been ill for several weeks. He was a native of Stamford and 86 years old. Before coming to Bennington he had resided in Woodford for some years. He served in Company E of the 31st Massachusetts volunteers. The funeral will be held at the Soldiers' home Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock and the burial will be in the village cemetery.
