Bartonsville Civil War Veteran Dies
Robert Richard Wheeler died at his home in Bartonsville, Wednesday, June 10. The funeral was held at the home, Friday, June 12, Rev. William Ballou of Chester officiating. Burial was in the Burgess cemetery beside his wife, Helen Elizabeth (Whittier) Wheeler.
He is survived by four children, Mrs. Bertha A. Smith, Belmont and Vincent Wheeler and Mrs. Laura A. Bagley; nine grand children; 19 great grandchildren and one great great grand daughter, Miss Arlene Ethel Cerate.
Those attending the funeral from out of town were; Mr. and Mrs. Almer Bagley of Auburn, Me., Mrs. Roy Wheeler, Miss Lizzie Smith and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Wheeler of New Hampshire; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Cerate of Bellows Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Gilson of Gilman; and Mrs. Bertha Smith of Lincoln.
