Funeral of G.A.R. Veteran This Afternoon at Mill Village.

A. W. Whiting of Mill Village died at his home at 10:30 o'clock Wednesday night following a 10 days' illness of apoplexy. Mr. Whiting was born in England75 years ago and came top Canada when a young man. Two years after his arrival in Canada he came to Rutland. He was employed at the Howe Scale works for about 15 years and in the car shops of the Rutland railroad for the same period. He had lived several years on the farm in Mill Village where he died.

Mr. Whiting was a member of Roberts post, G.A.R., having served in the Second New York cavalry for nearly four years.

He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Charles M. Young of this city, and one brother, Joseph Whiting of Yonkers, N.Y. The funeral will be held this afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home and the burial will be in Evergreen cemetery where the G.A.R. ritual service will be held at 3 o'clock.
