Obituary

Rollin Davis Stewart, 76 years old, a prominent resident of Berlin, died yesterday morning at 10:15 o'clock after an illness of a year with ailments incidental to advanced age. He was veteran of the Civil War, enlisting in Company C, 13th Vermont regiment, October 10, 1862. He served as corporal and was discharged July 21, 1863. He married October 26, 1865, Laura B. Nelson, who with nine children survive. He was born in Berlin May 2, 1839, the oldest son of Rollin H, and Mahalia A. Stewart. The surviving children are: Clarence N., James R., George W., Nellie O., all of Berlin, Mrs. Eva I. Nelson of Youngstown, Ohio, Carroll L., Charles G., and Hattie B. Bancroft of Berlin. There are also three sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Helen M. Taft, Abel H. and Clark H. Stewart of Berlin, William Henry Stewart of Williamstown and Mrs. Clara S. Nelson of Somerville, Mass.
