William H. Thompson

The Vermont Journal, March 30, 1917

Chester-

William Henry Thompson died Tuesday morning at 4 o'clock of heart failure, aged 93 years, one month and 20 days. He had been gradually failing all winter but was abut the house as usual Monday. The funeral was held at the house Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock. He was born in Chester in February, 1824, and lived in town all but 21 years. He was always a farmer, making a specialty of fruit and berries. He married Abbie Bates, who with five children survive him, Mrs. Walter Bugbbee, with whom they lived, Norman Thompson of this town, Mrs. Wright of Grafton, William Thompson of North Springfield, and Clarence of West Brattleboro. He had 15 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Mr. Thompson was a member of the Baptist church and Henry Post, G.A.R. - Rev. R. M. Jones officiated at the funeral. Burial in Pleasant View Cemetery.
