Col. Eldon A. Tilden, who died in Allston, Mass., Sunday morning, was born in Barre in 1841, and learned the tinsmith business of his father there, was a private in the 2d Vermont regiment, and served in the army of the Potomac. He went to Boston in 1871, where he has since lived.
