Andrew Austin, general utility man at the Hotel Jaquith in North Thetford for the past 20 years, died Jan. 26. Mr. Austin came to Post Mills in 1865 with Commodore Chubb and was a soldier in a colored regiment in the Civil War.

Webmaster's comment: Austin's service, so close to the Civil War, was probably confused, nearly 60 years after the event.
