Orson C. Thomas

Lamoille Newsdealer: August 1,1862

DESERTER: Orson C. Thomas, of Colchester, not having the good of his country before his eyes, went to Boston, about a week since, enlisted in the Massachusetts, 33rd Regiment, Col. Clark., received eighty dollars bounty, and immediately skedaddled back to Vermont.

He was arrested on Saturday at his home in Colchester, and left for Boston this morning in the custody of State's Attorney French, with Sheriff Flanergan, who has been quite active in tracking the rascal. Thomas is a daguerrean by profession, and has operated at Plattsburg and Winooski. It is hoped that he will be sent to the Rip Raps.
