Remarks: Abner is the son of Captain John F. Croff, both served in Co. E,169th NY INF. An aborted enlistment in the 22nd NY INF in 1861, as documented in NY Muster Roll Abstracts for an Abraham Croff could have been Abner (similar date/place of birth, residence), but he was never taken up on the rolls of any regiment.
