Nicholas Jordan enlisted in the 98th New York Infantry in November 1861 and was discharged in July 1862. He was born in New York about 1843, and was listed on the "U.S. Indian Census Rolls" between 1897 and 1912. According to the 1900 U.S. Census, he was living in Ira, VT with his wife, Charlotte. The 1910 U.S. Census shows them living in Tinmouth, VT. Nicholas died April 24, 1914 at the Brattleboro Retreat. He may be buried in an unmarked grave at the Retreat cemetery, but there are no extant records. His widow, Charlotte, filed for widow's benefits on August 29, 1914 in Vermont.
