Henry A. Conant was born in Burlington, Vermont, Sept. 12, 1817, and died in Soldiers Home near Leavenworth, July 13, 1907, aged 89 years, ten months old. The remains were sent home and buried near Enterprise.

Mr. Conant enlisted in the Mexican War in May, 1846, from Ohio, in Company F. First Regiment and served as Sergeant.

September 20, 1849 he was united in marriage with Matilda Hecker at Hamilton, Ohio. Five children were born to them, three of whom survive him. They are Frank. Ed, and Alice, all living near Enterprise.

In 1856 they moved to Illinois, and in 1869 came to Kansas, where they have since lived.
