5707 REV. HENRY ERASTUS JEWETT (Ephraim, Luther, Daniel, Benjamin, Benjamin, Nehemiah, Joseph, Edward), was born in St. Johnsbury, Vt., April 9, 1842. He married in Sacramento, Cal., May 81, 1876, Alice Hester Dwinell, daughter of Rev. Isreal Edson and Rebecca E. (Maxwell) Dwinell of Sacramento. Mrs. Jewett was born in Salem, Mass., Oct. 14, 1852, and was President of the Woman's Board of Missions for the Pacific Coast from 1890 to 1900. Mr. Jewett was a Union soldier in the Civil War, being a Corporal in Co. F, 39th Regt. Wis. Vol. Inft. He was ordained a Congregational minister at Redwood City, Cal., in July, 1870, and was pastor of a church there from 1869 to 1879. Was principal of Hopkins Academy in Oakland, Cal., from 1879 to 1888; Superintendent of Schools for San Mateo Co., Cal., from 1878 to 1875, and pastor of a church in Vacaville, Cal., from 1889 to 1895. Since 1895 he has been Registrar and Statistical Secretary of the General Association of Congregational Churches of California with his residence in Berkeley, Cal. His photograph appears on the opposite page.

Jewett - In Berkeley, May 16, 1910, at his residence, 2511 Benvenue avenue. Rev. Henry E. Jewett, dearly beloved husband of Alice Jewett, and father of Mrs. M.B. Greely, Mary Rebekah and Franklin Jewett, a native of Vermont, aged 68 years 1 month and 7 days. Friends and acquaintances are respectfully invited to attend the funeral services tomorrow (Thursday), May 19, 1910, at 10 o'clock a.m., at the First Congregational Church, corner of Durant and Dana streets, Berkeley. Internment Mountain View Cemetery.
