Obituary
LUCIUS D. BLAKE
Lucius D. Blake died of cancer at his home here March 11 after a painful illness of eighteen months. L.D. Blake was born in Island Pond, March 17, 1840, the son of John and Lydia Blake. In this place, March 14, 1882, he married Mary A. Judd, and here a greater part of their married life was spent.
Mr. Blake enlisted in the Civil War March 9, 1864, in the 17th Vt, Co. G., Vol., which he served until the close of the war. In his home, he was a kind husband and father, which in the community he was respected by all that knew him. He was a great sufferer for a greater part of his illness, bearing the pain with great courage and endurance.
Funeral services were held at the church Saturday, March 13, Rev. O.E.Barnard of Island Pond officiating. Of near relatives he leaves a wife, one son, E.E. Blake of Island Pond, two daughters, Mrs.W.R. Cargell of Manchester, N.H., and Miss Grace Caswell of this place, also, one sister Mrs. Sara Norton of Island Pond.Interment was in the cemetery here.
