This is a first, very rough draft, version of the Map Library for the Vermont in the Civil War Virtual Museum.
The maps listed on the lest are "zoomed in" from the War Telegram Marking Map shown below. The place listed is usually the centerpoint of the map, but not always. Future upgrades to this section of the library will include references to the dates that Vermont units were at each of the locations listed on the maps.

"Explanations," in the lower left-hand corner of the map indicates this map, published c. 1862 by L. Prang & Co. Print Publishers, 159 Washington Street, Boston, is "the most distinct map ever published of the whole Virginia territory, where the decisive battles for the Union will be fought" and it is "a marking map, that is a map to mark the change of positions of the UNION FORCES in RED PENCIL and the REBEL FORCES in BLUE, upon the receipt of EVERY TELEGRAM from the seat of war; for this latter purpose we want plenty of space and a distinctness combined with enough of detail, not to crowd, but to enable us to follow the march of the army as advised by the telegrams."
Although the majority of the battles in which Vermont units participated are located on this map, not all areas are included. Unfortunately, comparable maps for the Gulf Coast area, Pennsylvania and other areas where Vermonter's fought, are not believed to be available.
