Enlisted man's infantry overcoat identified to Private Franklin Denison of Co. C 12th Vermont.
It is made of 'Satinette', a material used early in the war and only a few are known to still exist. The coat has a red wool lining and is clearly marked with Inspector's stamp and Denison's name on a sewn in label.
Denison was born in Royalton, Vermont and enlisted at the age of 20 in Burlington on 8-14-62. His regiment was present at Gettysburg and his enlistment expired shortly thereafter on 7-14-03.
This actual coat is featured in the 6th Edition of the North South Trader Price Guide.
