The Role of Women In The Civil War

Ladies Relief Association

"The Ladies of the Relief Association need more help. An unexpectedly large amount of work has came upon their hands for the soldiers of the 2nd. Regiment within the last two days; and though considerable help is rendered by ladies in Shelburne, Williston, Hindsburg, Richmond and Jericho, that is not sufficient to meet the demand. BOTH SEWING MACHINES AND HAND NEEDLES CAN FIND FULL EMPLOYMENT. The labors of those who have been at work for some days past have been very arduous, and we are sure we need only to mention the want of more help to insure its prompt supply."
