The Vermont roster includes a second William Daniels who enlisted in the 5th Infantry Co B at Middlebury 12 Sep 1861, transferred to the 13th VRC Co E at Middlebury 21 Oct 1863 and mustered out 5 Dec 1865, which precludes 13th Inf service and Frontier Cavalry service (which enlistment of 3 Jan 1865 matches the roll of Capitol No.5). 1850 Census, Middlesex Township: William Daniels, age 5, b. Vt., household of Joseph S. (farmer) and Patience Daniels.

P. G. Dewey, Montpelier resident, (of the two above units) attended the Fiftieth Anniversary of Gettysburg Encampment in 1913. It appears that Dewey was born Pierre Desautels in Marieville, Quebec, and willed $75,000 to that town in 1922 for the erection of a public library, which was built in 1967, and named La Bibliotheque Commemorative Desautels.

William Dodge was born Montpelier, Vt., 28 Nov 1818 (LDS). He was much older than most members had been, but No.5 was in need of men of any age. By September of 1862, enlistments reduced the sixty-man fire company to eighteen men. Dodge joined No.5 while still in the service, not afterwards, therefore the asterisk.

Farwell attended the 18th annual reunion of the 13th Vermont Regiment Association on 3 Jul 1906.
