Elbert Van Ornum
Elbert Van Ornum was born in Essex County, New York, in 1847. He enlisted in Burlington, in October 1863, and mustered in as a Private, Co. D, 11th Vermont Infantry (aka 1st Artillery, 11th Vermont Volunteers) on 9 November 1863. He transferred to Co. C on 24 June 1865 during the consolidation of the regiment, and was discharged on 25 August 1865.
Elbert died 15 January 1936, and is buried in Olivia, MN.
