THE 17th REGIMENT: This regiment suffered severely in the attack on Petersburgh.
Major W. B. Reynolds, commanding was killed, as also ten others, among them Henry A. Luce, and John Hale of Co. C.. Capt. Kenfield was taken prisoner, with Omri Atherton, W. G. McClintock and J. M. Chaplin, and privates, Mark M. Slayton and Edward C. Carter of his company.
Sargt. Albert C. Raymond wounded in head. Thomas Stoddard, where wounded not stated. Edward J. Taylor in face severely.
The regiment now numbers two officers and 75 men for duty.
