Silas O. Dwinell

Silas Oscar Dwinell, credited to Grafton, enlisted in Co. E, 6th Vermont Volunteer Infantry September 29, 1861.

He was promoted to Sergeant (date currently unknown).
He re-enlisted December 15, 1862.
He was wounded August 21, 1864 at Charles Town, West Virginia.
He transferred to Co. K October 16, 1864 due to the consolidation of the regiment.
He received a commission as 2nd Lieutenant on May 12, 1865, effective April 22.
He mustered out with his regiment on June 26, 1865.

After the war he moved to Derby, Connecticut. He served as Post Commander, G.A.R. Post No. 26 (Kellogg's Post) in Derby. He died April 23, 1923, age 76, and is buried with his wife, Rachel L. Bates (1849-1936), in Oak Cliff Cemetery, Derby, CT.
