Delos F. Brooks

Delos F. Brooks. Discharged in Texas, serving 1861 to 1866. He attended Montpelier Seminary; attended Wesleyan Coll. for a short time, became a Methodist pastor and served in VT,NY,IN,IA,OK. He died 30 May 1935 at 89 yrs. after being honored at a Memorial Day observance as the only Civil War veteran in attendance, Mechanicville, NY. On a trip to FL in 1935 he visited Fort Pickens where he had been stationed & was interviewed by a Pensacola paper. His gravestone notes his Civil War service which he began at age 16. Yes, he fudged his age to enlist.
