Civil War Veteran Dies.

Elias E. Clark, a retired merchant, died suddenly at his home in West Rutland yesterday morning after a brief illness. He was 81 years old and had made his home in West Rutland for 30 years. He conducted a grocery and meat store on Clarendon avenue for a great many years. He gave up active business 10 years ago.

Mr. Clark is survived by a son, Wayne S. Clark, a daughter, Mrs. W.A. Thrall, and one sister, Mrs. Sarah Post, all of West Rutland.

He was a Civil war veteran and belonged to Roberts post, G.A.R. of Rutland. He was also a member of Hiram lodge, No. 101, F. and A.M. of West Rutland.

The funeral will be held at the house Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The burial will be in Evergreen cemetery. The service will be in charge of Hiram lodge.
