H.N. FISH DEAD - Civil War Veteran and Retired Hotel Manager Was In 85th Year
Horatio Nelson Fish, aged 84 years, a retired hotel manager and veteran of the Civil War, died Thursday night at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles W. Bowers, 93 Harvard Street.
Mr. Fish was born in Putney, Vt., Aug. 17, 1840, the son of Joseph and Nancy (Crosby) Fish. For many years he made his home in Seattle, Wash., from where he came to this city last May. He was manager of St. Denney hotel, New York City, and St. James hotel, Jacksonville, Fla., for many years. He served throughout the civil war as a member of the 16th Vermont infantry.
Mr. Fish is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary (Foster) Fish and a sister Mrs. Lucia Foster of Brattleboro, who is 87 years old.
The body will be taken to Washington, D.C. tomorrow afternoon and the funeral service will be in that Sunday afternoon. Burial will be in Arlington cemetery, Washington.
