The funeral of Elisha E. Gates, whose tragic death occurred June 5, was held in his home Saturday. Relatives and friends filled the house to overflowing. Rev. Edgar hatfield spoke words of comfort and Mr. and Mrs. Archie Miner sang. The floral tributes were many and beautiful. E. F. Evans, Will Dennison, H. E. White and George Lynde were bearers. The burial was in Christ Church cemetery, Guilford. Mr. Gates was a veteran of the Civil war, enlisting in the 11th Vermont Volunteers, Company H, at the age of 16 years, serving nearly two years, when, on account of ill health, he was discharged.
