Dr. A. K. Gould of Ludlow, father of Mrs. O. R. Howe of this place, while at Hartland last week, took about a tablespoonful of aqua ammonia, thinking it to be cough medicine. He was nearly strangled and the coating of his stomach fearfully burned. Eggs and milk were given him at once and a physician summoned from Woodstock, a distance of six miles, but he died Wednesday afternoon. Dr. Gould was a veteran of the civil war, enlisting in company K of the Fourth regiment in 1861 and serving until 1864.
