Newell Haynes, the engineer on the May Queen, which blew up on Minnetonka lake in Minnesota about two weeks ago, proves to have been a Wilmington boy. He lived about three days in terrible agony, but was able to explain the cause of the accident, which it will be remembered, was the result of letting cold water into the boiler. Haynes was formerly proprietor of the stage line from Brattleboro to Wilmington.
