Obituary

The Sedalia (Mo.) Daily Times says of John M. Holland, son of Calvin Holland of this village, who died of small-pox in that city last Saturday week. "He was a member of the Masonic Fraternity, - one of its choicest pillars in the temple. He loved masonry because it is the friend of humanity, and in his hour of distress, when far from home and hindred, he found himself cared for with most affectionate assiduity."

The Vermont Record and Farmer, Brattleboro, VT, February 21, 1873
