Obituary

Charles P. Leonard, well known in Northfield and a member of Johnston post, G. A. R., died at his home in West Berlin Tuesday of last week after having been ill for some time with heart trouble. He was 61 years o age and is survived by a wife and four children. He saw active service in the Civil war, and was a private in company E, fourth Vermont regiment. The funeral was held last Thursday afternoon conducted by Rev. W. S. Hazen. About 30 members of the G. A. R. posts from town attended in a body. Many handsome floral tributes were in evidence. Mr. Leonard had many friends and his death will be deeply mourned.
