Col. Henry Oliver Gillett, of Whitingham, died Wednesday, Dec. 19th, at the age of 41 years, the day before his death. He had held various offices in his town, and was first Lieutenant in the 16th Vermont volunteers. He was also a member of the present legislature, in which he served during the last session with much good common sense, credit to himself and satisfaction to his constituents at home, and his fellow members, as well as many other friends and acquaintances, will learn of his death in the prime of life as most unexpected and with heartfelt sorrow.
