Middlebury Register, August 17, 1923 Nathan Carr Thomas, Civil War veteran who died at his home in Proctorsville August 3, aged 76, had a war record of twelve battles which he participated in. He was wounded in the left hand at Charleston, and carried the bullet 51 days. In all he spent three months in army hospitals.
