John H. Wells of Walker
Street Passes Away

John H. Wells of Walker street, veteran of the Civil war as a member of a Vermont company of volunteers and a resident of North Adams practically all of his life, died last evening in Northampton where he had been living for the past five months. He became seriously ill about three months ago and gradually failed until his death ensued yesterday.

He was 84 years of age and a member of C. D. Sanford Post of the G.A.R. here. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Wells of Walker street, several nieces and a nephew all of this city.

The body will be brought here tomorrow afternoon and funeral services will follow at the grave at Southview cemetery shortly after 1 o'clock.
