News has been received of the death of Chester N. Wood, in the National Soldiers' Home in Maine last week. He was a son of the late Israel Wood and a half-brother of Herbert M. Wood. Mr. Wood served two enlistments in the Civil War in Company I, Eighth Vermont regiment, this service covering the period from February 10, 1862, to June 28, 1865. Two of his brothers who were soldiers died during the war. Mr. Wood was engaged in railroad work in Springfield, Mass., many years and went from that city to the soldiers' home a few years ago.
